Sometimes the simplest acts of creativity bring people closer together. At this year’s Winnipeg Design Festival, our studio opened its doors to a community eager to share stories and make something meaningful—one patch at a time.
The idea was beautifully simple: one quilt, countless stories. Over two sessions, neighbors, friends, and strangers sat side by side, sketching patterns and sharing pieces of their lives. Each patch became a voice, some bold, some quiet, woven into a collective narrative that speaks of resilience, diversity, and home.
Threads That Bind: Winnipeg’s Quilt of Connection
Why a quilt? Because quilts protect, comfort, and endure. They remind us that beauty emerges when differences meet at the seams. In a city defined by its cultural richness, this project wasn’t just about design. It was about connection. It was about saying: You matter. Your story matters. And together, we are stronger.
Now, the finished quilt hangs as a vibrant testament to what happens when creativity becomes community. It’s more than fabric. It’s a symbol of hope stitched in color.
